Ballantine & Son Ltd in Dumbarton, Scotland. The company can be traced
back to 1827 when George Ballantine opened his first shop.
Ballantine's Day
Ballantine's Day is on February 14, the same as Valentine's Day, and is
the single person's way of celebrating Valentine's Day. The correct way of
celebrating Ballantine's Day is by buying a bottle of Ballantine's Whisky
(it doesn't matter which kind of Ballantine's) and drinking that bottle of
Ballantine's while sitting amongst other singles discussing how ridiculous
Valentine's Day is. The celebration originated in Bergen, Norway in 2006.
The inspiration for this celebration was the Norwegian comic, M, by Mads
Eriksen. In the comic, the character M thought everybody said "Happy
Ballantine's Day", instead of "Happy Valentine's Day" on
February 14 and bought a bottle of Ballantine's for his girlfriend.
Another version of Ballantines day involves the inclusion of Ballantine
Ale ("America's Largest Selling Ale") this celebration
originated in Manhattan, New York City in 2005.
